CLUE The Musical | American Historic Theatre

CLUE The Musical | American Historic Theatre

Based on the iconic board game, the CLUE musical utilizes a talented cast to journey with the audience through a the thrilling murder mystery performance we all know and love. The American Musical Theatre of Historic Bridgeport, Texas trusted me with the opportunity to build their showcase poster and other branding elements for the event.

This poster, along with t-shirts and handouts, informed the community of this show and the rebirth of this historic theatre. When designing, I wanted to take an eerie realistic portrayal of the weaponry and blood stain upon the logo.

Next Express

Next Express

Cutting edge cell phone retailer "Next Express" can be found in major malls across the country. However, before they got their start, the start-up team was in desperate need of a logo and corporate branding to use moving forward.

The soft edges of the word "NEXT" is relatable to the round edges of a common text messaging bubble while the sharper edges of "EXPRESS" speak to the speed and swiftness of their service. Accompanied by the variety of mobile device silhouettes and speech bubble in the "R," the branding proved hard to miss when strolling by. Everything shown above was inspired by a modern-day smart phone UI while the colors communicate new and fresh deliverables.

MO Pockets

The "MO Pockets" Chinese Dumpling Restaurant was on the hunt for a designer to partner with them in creating their branding. Although the unique flavor and elegant preparation may be enough to attract returning customers, they first needed an image that would become iconic with the success of their business.

The logo above incorporate the traditional lettering with a rounded bottom mirroring that of the dumpling itself. The clever catch phrase "Get Ya Some" came from a fun brainstorming session discussing the unique name of the eatery.

FUTURE IS PODCAST

Each week the newly released "Future Is _" Podcast selects a different designer to create a graphic for the topic of the episode. I was trilled to be selected to design for the "Future Is EdTECH" Podcast aired on October 21, 2015.

This episode talked about how the technology of tomorrow will shape the education our children receive in the classroom. With my design, I wanted to capture both the idea of future education while also showing the relationship to a more traditional background.

BattleBots® Ad

The TV show known for its weaponed warrior robots has now partnered with HEXBUG® to create brand new remote control toys for the upcoming second season of the renewed show! These toys will bring the high-energy strategy game to life in each kid's living room.

The advertisement featured here was a two-page spread in our 2016 toy catalog. Every bit of artwork was created from scratch in Photoshop to emulate the live game-play experience that the robot controllers themselves take part in during a televised match.

Captain America Shield

I was super excited when I first completed this rendering of the iconic shield of Captain America. I was testing the waters between combining both Illustrator and Photoshop to pull off a photo-realistic rendering of what the shield could look like.

I started in Illustrator and mapped out how I wanted each shape to interact. I then transferred each section into Photoshop, layered them accordingly, and began to apply bevel effects, lighting and texturing to the vector artwork. The background image, overlaid color and J. J. Abrams style lens flare was added within Photoshop as a finishing touch.

HEXBUG® HAVOC

While working for HEXBUG® I was given the opportunity to help design our very first iPhone and iPad app known as HEXBUG® HAVOC™. This app is similar to other running games such as Temple Run and Minon Rush, however the character was one of our HEXBUG® nano® bugs and the object of the game was to collect additional battery life from other HEXBUGs to run as far as you can.

Our team and I worked on a variety of different design elements for this app. I personally was able to design the app icon and menu user interface.

GRACE

GRACE

This design originates from scripture. In John 1:16 it states that "out of God’s fullness, we have been given Grace Upon Grace."

For myself, I have interpreted this to mean that no matter how I mess up or what I might do wrong... God always has forgiveness waiting for me. He offers Grace in place of all of my failures... Even when I may feel his Grace is running on empty (the hollow white word underneath), he always has a new serving of Grace of come in, shadow over and fill its place (the dark full black word on top). Two layers of the same word, Grace upon Grace.

HEXBUG® SPLAT STICKER

Working for HEXBUG® I never know what kind of cool project might be waiting for me around the corner. This design was used at an annual fundraiser hosted by Tony Hawk called Stand Up For Skateparks. Our company, after partnering with Tony Hawk and his agency, was invited to attend and showcase our toys. We wanted to have a cool handout for any kids who visited our booth... thus the HEXBUG® Splat sticker was born.

The idea was that a kid could stick this translucent sticker on the bottom of their skateboard and it would look as if bug guts had been plastered all over the bottom of their deck!

Two newly acquired radio stations out of Greenville, Texas were in need of some new branding materials and logo designs. Both 107.1 Thunder Country and 99.7 The Way were searching for a fresh new look for their station.

This logo combines the simplicity of a street sign with the visual interest of a subtle 3D effect.

Geek Logos

When in College I was given the opportunity to host my very own radio show for a semester. During that time I developed multiple logos for my program that centered around technology and all kinds of gadget news. Each logo has its own look and feel as to complement the various segments that I hosted.

A Loving Hand

This logo was designed with the intent of being used by a local child advocacy center. My goal was to play off of the name “Loving Hand” with the popular gesture of making a heart between two joined hands. The larger hand representing the advocacy center, and the smaller representing a young child in need of help.

News Desk

While in college at Texas A&M of Commerce working towards my degree in Radio/Television, I was given the opportunity to design new web elements for the departments social media and website. WFAA Channel 8 News out of Dallas had just donated their old news desk and equipment to our school, so I took the opportunity to generate this new desk in Illustrator and use both it and a vector video camera I created as web elements in a variety of designs.

V2 Word Art

I have always enjoyed the abstract word art images that reveal a larger picture when observed long enough. I wanted to take a similar approach when I created the HEXBUG® nano V2™ “The Can Climb” graphic. Each descriptor for the nano V2™ bug is used to fill in the shape of the toy itself.

AC and HEAT

AC and Heat is a local air conditioning and heating installation company that contacted me about updating their existing logo for their website. The company wanted to stay true to their original design by only updating it to match a more modern style.

The owner of the company later had the new logo applied to the side of their installation trucks.

FROG Meadow

FROG Meadow was the children’s ministry for Highland Terrace Baptist Church of Greenville, Texas. I worked as the student intern for two years for the church and in that time I had the opportunity to design several different logos including this one.

All artwork was originally designed in Adobe Firework and later updated in Illustrator. I wanted to keep this logo as simple and kid-friendly as possible while staying true to the children minister’s vision for what the logo should look like. This design was adopted for the ministry and later printed on various t-shirts, banners and social media posts.

Desk

When I moved into my apartment I knew that I wanted to find a good sized desk to work on. I had looked all over the place for a large size desk but was overall not happy with what I was finding. This is when it dawned on me... why not design my own desk just the way I want it.

This design was generated entirely in Illustrator and was later used to construct my desk from scratch. I hired local carpenter and friend Keith Farr and he built the desk exactly as I had imagined it. Not only does it server as my work area, but I also allowed for cubby holes to house all of my electronics, receiver boxes, and DVDs. I am really happy with how it turned out!

iZZBY

The iZZBY logo was designed as a concept for a local merchandising and fulfillment company. They were in the beginning stages of creating a new website for selling gadgets and jewelry online. Although this project never got its feet off the ground, I still feel like the logo was strong enough to include in my portfolio.

Overall this design was a fun one to work on. I enjoy how the bubble feel ties in nicely with the ribbon text approach between the letter Z and B. Also the colors complement each other nicely and could serve as an inviting scheme for both men and women alike.

Frame

I have collected Thousand Foot Krutch albums for as long as I can remember. They have always been one of my favorite bands. I even have their very first album they released before they were ever even signed with Tooth and Nail records!

With that said, I wanted to come up with a way to showcase my collection. I designed these blueprints for a two-sided frame to house all of the albums in their original cases. This frame, unlike most frames, has the ability to be disassembled at anytime with little to no difficulty at all. I came up with a string system that allow for the frame to be held together on either side and come apart when need be. The string is simply held together on the top and bottom by a interlocking bold on either end.

Once I complete the construction of my frame I will be sure to upload some photographs as well.
