This design originates from scripture. In John 1:16 it states that "out of God’s fullness, we have been given Grace Upon Grace."
For myself, I have interpreted this to mean that no matter how I mess up or what I might do wrong... God always has forgiveness waiting for me. He offers Grace in place of all of my failures... Even when I may feel his Grace is running on empty (the hollow white word underneath), he always has a new serving of Grace of come in, shadow over and fill its place (the dark full black word on top). Two layers of the same word, Grace upon Grace.
